From an early age Michelle has been fascinated by all things geometric, seeing the world primarily in terms of a myriad of groups of shapes and colours. She later developed an interest in computer technology and admired computer manipulation of imagery to create a very geometric and ‘broken down’ look. Michelle has adopted this style non digitally by using a smaller paintbrush and a few tubes of paint.. and without the aid of photoshop!
Michelle is interested in the way the eye sees between the lines, filling in the gaps that aren’t there. Stylistically she aims to give the impression of the full image with blocks of colours and angled lines, letting the viewers eye take over.
Furthermore, by dissecting the image into many small blocks of colour, Michelle invites the viewer to appreciate the true, enormous spectrum that we see in faces, objects and places on a day-to-day basis.
