From an artistic family James had a natural talent for drawing and painting from an early age. For a long number of years he was involved in a non artistic occupation which he had the opportiunity to leave three years ago and has been painting full time since then steadily building a customer base for his paintings and limited edition prints.. He attended oil painting classes part time at Glasgowe School of Art during the nineteen eighties under tuition of Norman Kirkham and Mary Gallagher. He was former member of the Paisley Arti Institute and exhibited at their exhibtions for a number of years during the nineties. He has exhibited at the NationaL gallery in Edinburgh in national painting competition by panel selection. He is currently a member of Glasgow Southern Art Club, Eastwwod Art club and Artgroup 25 . He has a fairly distinctive style which is in demand by galleries and customers alike and his paintings usually sell very quickly.
