Eleanor works as a full time ceramic artist at Glasgow Ceramics Studio in WASPs, Dennistoun where she has been for 6 years.
The sea, the horizon and landscapes of Scotland in a variety of forms have a big impact on Eleanor’s work at present, and taking design cues from nature has led to an exploration of harmony between land and sea. Layers of glaze, stains, oxides and lustres are carefully applied to create depth. Vessels are thrown on the potters wheel and evoke an element of freedom through the loosely thrown form of the vessel. The textured clay used is a nod to the harsh Scottish landscape.
